| These individuals may suffer from a variety of eye diseases such a macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy. These individual can have varying levels of visual acuity or visual field loss. These individuals can be of any age. Before we begin low vision rehabilitation we need to establish that all medical and surgical treatments have been exhausted. Low vision rehabilitation begins with a comprehensive history and goal setting. Then a detailed refraction is performed. Sometimes specialized devices such as high powered glasses, magnifiers, or telescopes are prescribed. At home practice is usually recommended with rehabilitation techniques taught.
